Authorities evacuated the IHOP on Powers and Stetson Hills Saturday to investigate a suspicious device, pictured to the right.
Customers described what was found as a possible pipe bomb. It was found just outside the front doors. Once discovered, the staff was alerted and police were called.
Police evacuated the restaurant and the Urgent Care located next door. Crews used a bomb squad robot to take the device behind the building. Witnesses said they heard two distinct “pops” before seeing the robot reappear.
Investigators gathered evidence but said the device did not have any explosives or hazardous materials inside.
