Incoming wintry weather tangled up traffic on I-70 west of Denver Friday morning into early afternoon due to icy roads and numerous accidents.
I-70 was closed westbound from Georgetown to the Eisenhower Tunnel, and eastbound I-70 from Silverthorne to the Eisenhower Tunnel for more than two hours. Both reopened by 1:30 p.m.
The mountains and foothills are under and winter storm warning through 2 a.m. Saturday. Sister station KCNC is reporting periods of moderate and heavy snow, with whiteout conditions possible due to strong winds.
The storm is expected to move out later Saturday morning, with nicer weather and milder temperatures to follow.
