Colorado Springs police arrested a man driving the wrong way on I-25 Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m. Wednesday the driver of a maroon SUV was first spotted driving south in the northbound lanes of I-25 right around the North Nevada Interchange.
An officer tried to stop the vehicle near Garden of the Gods Road but the vehicle went around the officer, just missing his cruiser.
The driver ultimately made it more than two miles in the wrong direction before driving over stop-sticks police laid down in northbound lanes of the highway near the Fillmore Street exit.
That blew the SUV’s tires, forcing the driver to stop. Police shut down a few lanes of the highway to direct traffic around the scene.
Police said driver Scott Loos, 49, was arrested for DUID or driving under the influence of drugs. Officers did not specify which drugs they suspect Loos of using.
