Family and friends of nearly 400 Fort Carson soldiers welcomed them home over the Fourth of July weekend during three homecoming ceremonies.
Three-Hundred Seventy-Five of the soldiers are with the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. They arrived late Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
They have been deployed in Kuwait for the past nine months. They participated in security operations, joint exercises and training with the Kuwaiti armed forces.
Another twenty soldiers with the 242nd Ordnance Battalion, 71st Ordnance Group also arrived home Saturday.
They have been in Afghanistan disposing of improvised explosive devices, clearing weapons cashes and clearing roads. All together they disposed of 115,389 pounds of "explosive hazards."
A fourth group of soldiers is expected to arrive back at Fort Carson Monday.
A ceremony for 225 soldiers with the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. at the special events center.
