Homeowners near a water main break are dealing with flooding this morning, after a break in a line last night.
Police say they were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Springs Utilities says they were notified about the break around 2:00 a.m. Sunday.
The utility company says a 12" line broke, sending water flooding into the street and the basements of nearby homes.
Springs Utilities says homeowners can submit a claim for the damage to the city.
Crews turned off water in the area near the 2600 block of Delta Drive while they work to repair the break. An apartment complex and several businesses are affected.
The break is expected to be repaired by Sunday afternoon or evening.
The cause is unknown at this point. A spokeswoman says it could have been an old or faulty pipe that gave out. She says the break was not caused by an accident or hit by a construction crew.
Another water main break was reported Sunday morning on Verde Drive near S. Circle Drive.
That line is 8 inches.
Water is shut off to approximately 150 apartments nearby.
Utilities says the break should be fixed Sunday afternoon.
