A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Home Depot is investigating a potential credit card data breach.
The Atlanta home improvement retailer told The Associated Press Tuesday that it's looking into "unusual activity" and that it's working with both banks and law enforcement.
The possible data breach was first reported by Brian Krebs of Krebs on Security, a website that focuses on cyber security. Krebs said multiple banks reported "evidence that Home Depot stores may be the source of a massive new batch of stolen credit and debit cards."
The Krebs report says that the responsible party may be the same group of Russian and Ukrainian hackers suspected in last year's massive breach at Target Corp.
Shares of The Home Depot Inc. are down 2 percent to $90.91 in late trading.
Scope of problem
How bad was possible breach?: It's not clear, but preliminary analysis indicates the breach may have affected all 2,200 Home Depot stores in the U.S.
Who did it: It may be the same group of Russian and Ukrainian hackers suspected in the Target breach late last year.
Who else has been hacked: Target, grocery store chain Supervalu, P.F. Chang's and the thrift-store operations of Goodwill have been the target of hackers in recent months.
The impact of a breach: Target is still trying to recover from its breach. Its sales, profits and reputation with customers were damaged.
