Streets became streams throughout Colorado Springs and surrounding areas Friday night as heavy rain pummeled the area.
All eyes were on Manitou Springs and the Highway 24 corridor, with the Waldo Canyon burn scar receiving the first significant rainfall of the season. Highway 24 west of Manitou Springs was shut down for several hours as a precaution. It reopened late Friday night.
An evacuation shelter was opened for Manitou Springs residents who wanted to get to higher ground, but an official evacuation order never went into effect. No significant damage was reported from flooding.
