A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Highway 24 is closed between Limon and Colorado Springs due to rapidly deteriorating conditions on the eastern plains.
CDOT says the following roads are also closed:
-I-70 is also at the Eisenhower Tunnel
-I-70 between Airpark and Burlington
-US 40 between Limon and Kit Carson
-NB SH 71 Limon and Brush
-Westbound I-70 at the Eisenhower Tunnel- traffic being detoured to US 6 over Loveland Pass
Even on roads that remain open, travel is not advised at this time in most parts of the Front Range.
