Crews located two missing hikers in the South Cheyenne Canyon area near Seven Falls via flashlight signal.
The hikers, a man and a woman, went off their trail and got lost. They were able to use their cell phone for help. While waiting for help to arrive, they built a fire to stay warm.
Rescue crews located the hikers around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The woman had minor injuries, mainly scrapes from sliding around.

Yep, sliding occurs on hard ground with some decomposed granite on top. I found out about it 30 years ago - not hurt, but could have gone a lot further down the slope if I hadn't sat down and used hands and feet for added braking. If going off a trail, it's best to carry a compass and a topo map. A GPS is of little use alone without the map unless you can call for help and give rescuers your coordinates. Learn how to find your location on a map with GPS info then you can use the copmass to navigate back to civilization. If lost, be prepared in case you have to spend the night out there, carry survival items in a backpack.
