With fire danger remaining high despite the recent respite in temperatures and increased humidity, the Colorado Springs Fire Department warns the public that personal fireworks are still prohibited.
CSFD says patrols will be monitoring activity throughout the city. Anyone caught using, selling or possessing fireworks will face hundreds of dollars in fines or up to 90 days of jail time. Citizens are asked to call Springs police at 444-7000 to report unlawful firework use.
According to the city, any fire started by fireworks that threatens or damages property will be considered arson.
Firework displays can still be seen in Colorado Springs and across southern Colorado this 4th of July, as some public displays have been permitted to go on as scheduled. Information on those events can be found by clicking here.
