Springs police praise one of their canine crimefighters for detaining a burglary suspect.
K-9 Broc reportedly caught the suspect as he tried to run from police.
Police say officers were called to a home on the 900 block of Ellston Street Monday afternoon on reports of a burglary in progress. Before officers reached the home, a witness called and said the suspects had taken off. The witness was able to provide police with a vehicle description.
Officers reportedly saw the suspect vehicle heading southbound on Chestnut, and tried to pull it over. Police say the vehicle refused to stop, so officers sped after it. After the vehicle crashed into a curb, two of the suspects got out and tried to run away. That's when police say K-9 Broc stepped in. Officer Kelly deployed him, and Broc immediately caught the suspect and detained him.
The second suspect was caught by an officer a short time later.
Police say the third suspect stayed with the vehicle, and was detained at the scene. Officers found items stolen from the home on Ellston, and returned them to the victim.
