Authorities in Georgetown, KY tell WKYT that they have found fugitive John Buckley IV's car in a parking lot there.
According to Georgetown police Lt. Robert Swanigan, Buckley's car was found this morning at a Walgreen's parking lot. It is now clear how long the vehicle might have been parked there.
Buckley has been on the run since last Thursday. Before jurors found him guilty of rape, he left the Fayette County Courthouse and returned home where he removed his court ordered electronic monitoring device.
His victim is in now in protective custody.
"After we had the guilty verdict and I'm supposed to feel vindicated, that they finally put the man who raped me in prison, but they can't find him," Jessica Merritt told WKYT's Officer Don in an exclusive interview.
Left behind, police quickly took his victim into a small room to protect her. She has been hiding ever since. She can't go home, can't go to work, or live a normal life.
"The detectives now don't even want me to go back to my house," Merritt said. "I can't even go home, because they're scared that he will try to kill me."
Merritt wanted WKYT to do an interview so she could get the message out: she wants her rapist caught, and put in prison. She's hoping by appearing on television, it will help catch him.
Meanwhile, Buckley's father who lives in Colorado did an interview with KKTV in Colorado Springs begging his son to surrender to police.
