A man accused in a string of crimes, including homicide, assault and fraud, was arrested in Pueblo Thursday after law enforcement officers recognized his truck.
Luis Fernando Lopez, 29, was on the run for two and a half months.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says Lopez's truck was spotted in the Belmont area. Law enforcement followed him into the parking lot of the McDonald's on Bonforte Boulevard and closed in before Lopez realized they were there.
He was arrested without incident.
“We definitely surprised him; he didn't have time to react to our presence and that was just what we needed to get this done quickly and peacefully,” PCSO Law Enforcement Captain David J. Lucero said in a news release.
The sheriff's office says they knew Lopez was staying in the area.
The Violent Offender Task Force, the Pueblo Police Department and the Colorado Springs Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
The sheriff's office did not elaborate on the crimes Lopez is accused of committing, or where they allegedly took place.
