Although we are still tracking some light snow and icy/snow covered roads, the biggest concern for the morning will be the frigid temperatures. We are starting off with temperatures a few degrees above/below zero. Due to a breezy wind this morning, our wind chill, or what it "feels" like is well below zero. Please bundle up with numerous layers as you head out this morning. You will likely need to keep all the layers on hand throughout the day as highs reach the teens and low 20s with lingering flurries possible. Would you like a new street tree in front of your property?
City Forestry is offering the free street tree planting program this spring and has almost 80 trees to give away.
Trees are given to applicants on a first-come, first-served basis at no cost. Residents will be required to pick up and plant their own street trees. The trees were purchased through Trees Across Colorado with the Tree City USA fund.
To apply for a tree, please contact City Forestry 719-385-5942.
The deadline for accepting applications will be 4/11/2013.
There is usually room for a street tree if there is 25 to 35 feet between current street trees. Planting and watering instructions will be provided at the time of pickup. Pickup dates and times will be posted on www.SpringsGov.com/forestry.
