Police say it's all too common for motorcycle riders: a driver turning left right in front of them.

Colorado Springs police say they think that is what happened Sunday at the intersection of Platte and Wooten.

A pickup truck with a trailer reportedly turned left in front of two motorcycle riders. Both had a passenger on the back of the bike.

Police say one motorcycle hit the trailer and the other laid the bike down.

Four people were taken to the hospital. Police say three of them are in serious condition.

The accident happened at about 10:45 a.m.

The eastbound lanes of Platte were closed for quite awhile as police investigated.

Police tell 11 News that drivers often don't see motorcycle riders, or have trouble judging their speed and distance before turning left in front of them.
