The biggest concern for this afternoon/evening will be frigid temperatures. Highs will only max in the teens and 20s with breezy conditions and wind chills in the single digits. Throughout the afternoon, a few light snow showers are possible. Any accumulations should stay under 1" and is not a big concern. Traffic was backed up for miles on northbound I-25 due to several crashes on the interstate during the early hours of Sunday's blast of winter to the Pikes Peak region.
There were at least five separate crashes near Baptist Road, including a crash involving semi-trucks and one involving a school bus.
They were all in the right lane.
Traffic was reportedly backed up to at least Northgate.
There were no reports of serious injuries. State Patrol believes the snowy and windy conditions were likely factors in all of the crashes.
