Twenty-four firefighters were needed Friday morning to extinguish a fire at a home on the northeast side of Colorado Springs.
The fire started around 2:30 a.m. on the 4800 block of Chaparral Road, near Barnes and Powers. Firefighters say it started in the basement, but spread to the second level of the home. Smoke quickly filled the house.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out by 3 a.m.
All residents were able to get out safely, but have been displaced. The Pikes Peak Red Cross is providing shelter and other necessities.
At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
