A fire destroyed three homes and now investigators say it was likely arson. The fire quickly spread through a mobile home park in Walsenburg. They've arrested two suspects, Danny Mateo and John Chadil.
Witnesses tell us the flames were as high as the power poles. The fire was on West 7th street in Walsenburg just behind the 7-Eleven store. Firefighters tell us the fire started in a semi-trailer that was being used as storage.
It spread to four mobile homes, which are all a total loss. The fire also spread to a storage shed that had paint and propane gas inside. We talked to a witness who reported hearing some small explosions.
Three families were displaced by this fire and are getting help from the Red Cross.
"It's sad to see their houses go and I wish them the best of luck trying to get back on their feet," Amber Pacheco said.
"It's just really tragic, terrible, I mean he just had a couple of his family members come down to visit today and all this happened and it just ruined the whole night for everybody," Justin Velasquez said.
We're told the two suspects were charged with 4th degree arson.
