A news conference is scheduled today after a Springs fifth grader makes a really big find.

A fossil of a bird was uncovered by Gabby Linden of Academy International Elementary.

Last month park rangers from the Florissant National Monument brought pieces of shale and rock to Gabby's class and she spotted the fossil in the shale. The bird is believed to be about 34 million years old.

"Now I'm kind of interested in all the parts of wildlife, as a whole," Gabby says.

No word yet on what species the bird might be. We'll let you know what we find out at the news conference.
