The Festival of Lights Parade took place Saturday night in downtown Colorado Springs and just like in years past, it was a big success and a great way to kick off the holiday season!
The parade took place at the corner of Tejon and St Vrain Street, and proceeded south on Tejon to Vermijo Avenue. Despite the cold weather, thousands of people lined the streets to watch about 100 floats make their way down the parade route.
KKTV 11 News anchors Don Ward and Shannon Brinias emceed the parade, along with Stacia Naquin and John Harding.
The parade was kicked off with US Olympic Figure Skater and Colorado Springs native, Rachael Flatt, who acted as the parade's grand marshall.
Our own KKTV SAT truck made its way down the route, driven by Chief Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe and Sports Director Jesse Kurtz.
The US Olympic Committee, Peak Vista Community Health Partners, El Paso County Search and Rescue, KLite 106.3, along with several high school bands, are just a sampling of some of the groups to march in the parade.
