An 10-year-old boy raced to get help for his dying father after a deadly car crash Thursday night, but it was too late.

Thirty-year-old David Feaster, who was crushed after the SUV rolled off the road, did not survive the accident. His son was uninjured; state troopers do not believe Feaster was wearing a seat belt.

According to Colorado State Patrol, Feaster and his son were traveling down a dirt road southwest of the Pikes Peak International Raceway when Feaster lost control of his vehicle and went off the road. Feaster was partially ejected and then crushed by the SUV after the vehicle landed on top of him.

The 10-year-old managed to crawl out of the vehicle, and ran to a nearby home to get help.

Investigators believe that speed was a factor in the crash, but do not suspect alcohol.

Feaster has been identified as a Fort Carson soldier.

The crash site was located near the 18000 block of High Plains View, not far from the El Paso/Pueblo County line.

**Editor's Note: Authorities originally listed the son's age as 11, but have since corrected it to 10 years old.
