A quiet rural neighborhood became the unexpected setting of a bomb scare Thursday after a resident found two explosives outside his home.
The pipe bomb and a second explosive, both homemade, were in a box left out in the yard of a home on Rankin Road, north of Falcon. Both were live explosives.
"They could have easily killed someone; I'd say the kill radius is about 5 meters," a bomb squad technician told 11 News.
The El Paso County bomb squad responded just after 11 a.m. and were able to safely detonate the devices. The investigation has now been taken over by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). There are currently no suspects.
