The man accused of being at the center of a police standoff was in court on Wednesday.

William Christopher White allegedly fired several shots in his neighborhood near Wahsatch Avenue and Dale Street, and then refused to come out of his house.

After White entered the courtroom on Wednesday, the judge explained that she is concerned about his competency when it comes to moving forward in the case.

The judge ordered White to have a competency evaluation done by the Mental Health Institute in Pueblo.

White is due back in court on December 18.

Police say during the standoff, White also fired dozens of shots at a police robot.

Several hours into the situation authorities say White walked out of his house holding a weapon before he was arrested.
