A southern Colorado community has be warned not to drink their tap water.

The water supply in Manzanola, which is east of Pueblo, reportedly has elevated levels of uranium. Health officials say drinking it for years could lead to a higher cancer rate.

Letters have been sent out to each of the 220 households in town. Those who receive the letters are asked to share the information with whoever they can.

Officials hope to have the problem solved within the next year.
