A man convicted of shooting at police at a Springs park last summer will spend the next four decades behind bars.
Frank Goad pleaded guilty in March to first-degree \assault on a peace officer and aggravated robbery. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors did not pursue numerous other charges, including attempted murder of a peace officer.
Back in July 2013, police responded to a shots fired call at Goose Gossage Park, near I-25 and Fillmore. When they arrived they found Goad and another man. Police say the second man obeyed police orders, but Goad shot at an officer and took off.
Goad was also accused of trying to carjack someone following the shooting attempt.
Goad was on the run for several days before a Manitou Springs police officer spotted him walking down the street and arrested him.
He was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison.
