Crews on scene say seven people are in custody as SWAT surrounds a home on the 400 block of Aztec Drive in Security-Widefield.

At least some of the people in custody are believed to be connected to at least two burglaries that occurred in Security-Widefield between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. The burglaries were committed at a home on the 4900 block of Sebring Drive and a home on the 9300 block of Berry Lane. A gun was stolen from one of the homes. It has not been located.

According to our reporter on scene, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle from the two burglaries at the home on Aztec. SWAT was called to the scene and began detaining people inside the house. Five to eight people are in custody; it's unknown if everyone in custody was involved with the earlier burglaries, or if some just happened to be in the home when SWAT arrived.

SWAT is now going through the house to make sure it's clear. The spokesperson for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office tells 11 News they are not leaving the area until they are sure it is safe.

Discovery High School, Widefield Elementary and Widefield High School were put on secured perimeter status while deputies search for the suspects. This has been lifted as of 1:07 p.m. All schools are now operating as normal.

Details are limited right now; we are at the scene and working to get more information.
