DURANGO, Colo. (AP) -- A 41-year-old Durango woman accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed two people on a motorcycle has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.
The Durango Herald reports District Judge Suzanne Carlson sentenced Stacie Pierce-Green on Friday on two counts of vehicular homicide. The May 22 crash killed 66-year-old Frank Steward and 65-year-old Jessica Steward of Tahoe Vista, Calif.
Authorities say Pierce-Green was headed west on U.S. Highway 160 near Hesperus in southwestern Colorado when her vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head-on with the motorcycle. An arrest affidavit says she acknowledged drinking four beers and smoking marijuana at a friend's house in Durango before the crash.
Pierce-Green also must pay court costs and restitution, the amount of which hasn't been determined.
