A driver was chased by Douglas County Deputies for nearly 20 miles early Wednesday morning. The driver was headed north on the southbound side.
The scary situation began just before 3:00 a.m. when deputies received a call about the car speeding in the wrong direction near Larkspur, approximately at mile marker 172.
KKTV 11 News listened to the recordings of the radio chatter from the chase.
“Be advised: vehicle traveling northbound in southbound lane,” the dispatcher said. “We’re being told vehicle is traveling around 100 miles per hour. At mile marker 184, vehicle almost struck another car.”
Another driver, heading northbound on the correct side of I-25, reported the driver to the Sheriff’s Office.
“[Reporting Party] is traveling northbound, following along with the vehicle,” the dispatcher said at a later point. “Says driver is speeding up now and can only see the tail lights at mile marker 186.”
Sheriff’s Deputies managed to stop the driver, 34-year-old Michael Jarrett, just shy of mile marker 189. They say he's facing charges of DUI and reckless driving.
