After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. A driver is fighting for his life this morning, after an accident near Airport Road and South Academy Blvd. in Colorado Springs.
The accident happened at about 11:00 p.m. July 5.
Police say the driver of a Chevy Suburban was going south on Academy and tried to turn left onto eastbound Airport. Police say a Jeep Cherokee that was on northbound Academy hit the Suburban.
Police say the driver of the Suburban was taken to the hospital with serious, life threatening injuries. According to police, the driver of the Jeep was not seriously hurt.
Airport road was closed in both directions at South Academy for almost three hours while police investigated.
