Driver Escapes After High Speed Chase

A traffic stop turned into a high speed chase after the driver took off.

Colorado State Patrol says the driver of a '96 Lincoln Continental was pulled over on southbound I-25 at mile marker 106 near Pueblo.

State Patrol says a few minutes later, the driver took off and troopers followed.

The suspect vehicle reportedly reached speeds of 100 miles an hour before exiting onto southbound Elizabeth in Pueblo.

State Patrol says the chase, which lasted a few minutes, was called off when the driver turned onto 29th Street.

The incident happened just after 8:40 a.m. Sunday.
