Double-Murder Suspect Due In Court

After months on the run, a double-murder suspect is back in the Springs and due in court Friday for a preliminary hearing.

Gary Vigil, 22, is accused of killing two people, one who police say was several months pregnant with his child. He surrendered in El Paso, Texas in December 2013 after reportedly hiding out for months in Mexico. His father, Tino Vigil, told 11 News at the time that his son had surrendered voluntarily.

Police believe Gary Vigil shot and killed 22-year-old Daniel Castaneda and 24-year-old Camille Root in mid-August of last year. The shooting took place in a parking lot near Platte and Circle.

Vigil is facing first-degree murder charges.

We'll let you know what happens in court.
