A sheriff's deputy was seriously hurt when he collided with a semi tractor-trailer.
Colorado State Patrol says the semi was turning left into a gravel pit off of southbound highway 150 in Costilla County. That is in the south-central part of the state.
State patrol says the 33-year-old deputy Keith Schultz was passing the semi as it turned. Deputy Schultz was driving an unmarked car and responding to a call in the San Luis Area at the time.
Deputy Schultz was taken to a local hospital before being flown to a hospital in Denver.
The crash happened at 4:43 p.m. June 28. It is still under investigation.
