One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting on Monterey Road on the southeast side of Colorado Springs.
According to Barbara Miller, a spokesperson with the Colorado Springs Police Department, just after 11 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched for a disturbance with shots fired at 2230 Monterey Road, across the street from Monterey Elementary School.
When they got to the house, officers found one man already dead and another in critical condition. Both men had been shot.
The injured man was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police believe the two men knew one another, and were the only ones involved in the shooting, therefore they do not believe there is a threat to the community. The names of the two men are not being released at this time.
Police have Monterey Road shut down between Ventura Drive and Lassen Drive while investigators process the scene, which is expected to last well into Sunday morning.
If you have any information about this crime, you are asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000, or you can call Crime Stoppers at (719) 634-STOP (7867).
