Speed May Have Been Factor In Deadly Crash

One person is dead after an accident involving a recycling truck Tuesday morning, according to Colorado State Patrol.

State Patrol says a black car traveling north on Las Vegas Street crossed the center line and hit a recycling truck.

The black car was pinned between the truck and the guardrail on the southbound side of the street.

The car's 20-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She is from Colorado Springs. The driver of the truck had minor injuries, according to State Patrol.

The accident happened just after 9:30 a.m. on Las Vegas Street near the MLK bypass in Colorado Springs. The crash is still under investigation, but authorities say speeding may have been a factor.

State Patrol is asking anyone who may have seen the crash to contact them at 719-544-2424.

The names of the drivers have not been released.
