DMV Mistakenly Sends Letters Denying Driving Privileges

The Department of Motor Vehicles mistakenly sent 134 letters to drivers in Pueblo County telling them they could no longer drive in Colorado.

The letters were sent out Monday.

A spokeswoman for the department says they apologize for the error and for "any distress this has caused our customers." The department received a file that was incorrect and it automatically generated the bad letters.

The department will be sending letters of apology to the 134 drivers where they'll explain the mistake. The DMV is making sure this mistake does not impact the drivers' records. They will each be contacted and given a copy of their driving record.

The DMV has taken steps to make sure the problem doesn't happen in the future.
