Airport officials at the Denver and Colorado Springs airports are cancelling flights ahead of a snowstorm expected to dump nearly a foot of snow in some areas.

Meteorologists say as much as 6 to 10 inches of snow could fall in Denver, accompanied by gusts of 25 mph west of I-25 and up to 40 mph east of the interstate. A blizzard watch has been issued for much of the eastern plains. The Denver International Airport website shows numerous flights cancelled or delayed Sunday.

In Colorado Springs, where the snowfall amounts are expected to be much more varied, the airport website shows most departures and arrivals on time Sunday morning, though there are a handful of cancellations. This could change, however, as the snow moves in--northern Colorado Springs and Monument are expected to get anywhere from 6 inches to a foot of snow. Strong winds are expected throughout the region.
