One school district is warning parents about a coyote that was spotted Thursday near a school.
District 11 said that several parents and neighbors called to report the coyote near Penrose Elementary School.
District spokeswoman Devra Ashby said it is not unusual for coyotes to be in the area, but parents were concerned about how close this one was to the school. She said they sent out the alert just to give parents a heads up, but that children would continue their outdoor activities as usual, under adult supervision.
The Department of Wildlife was alerted about the coyote. They told KKTV that at this point, they coyotes have not exhibited any aggressive behavior and for now they are not removing them. They are putting up signs in the area to warm people the animals are there, and what to do if they see one.
