D-11 Considering Closing Several Schools

Big changes could be ahead for many of our children and their schools.

The Springs' largest district is considering reconfiguring or even outright closing several schools. However, District 11 says nothing has been decided yet, and they do want public input before moving forward.

The schools in question are: Horace Mann and Galileo middle schools, Wasson High School, and Bates, Queen Palmer, Midland and Taylor elementary schools.

The district say declining enrollment is behind the idea, because 80 percent of those living in D-11 don't have school-aged children.

There are three remaining meetings where you can share your thoughts or gather more information. The next meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mitchell High School on Potter Drive.
