Pickup Truck, Snow Plow Collide In Deadly Crash

State Patrol says treacherous road conditions and high speed are to blame for a fatal crash near Cripple Creek Tuesday afternoon.

Highway 67 was closed for hours between Cripple Creek and Divide as crews cleaned up the deadly wreck.

According to troopers, a 23-year-old was going too fast for the road conditions and slammed his pickup truck into a snow plow. He wasn't wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene. The snow plow driver was uninjured.

People who live along Highway 67 told 11 News it doesn't take a lot of snow to make the road dicey.

"We didn't have much snow, it was slushy. When it's slushy, it's slicker. The roads were really bad this morning. You had to take it slow."

Troopers have not released the identity of the man who died, but do say he was from Divide.
