A band choreographer and coach at Air Academy and Liberty high schools in District 20 is being charged with sexual exploitation of a child.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says they started investigating David Hurd, 38, in February after a school resource officer received a tip about a possible inappropriate relationship between a student and a contract employee.
Hurd was a band choreographer and coach for about nine years, when he allegedly had a romantic relationship with a 16-year-old student.
Hurd, who lives in the Denver area, was arrested April 11 in Aurora. He bonded out of jail April 12. He has been charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a child and obscenity.
Hurd has been a consultant and choreographer for years, and has been involved in multiple marching band activities.
The sheriff's office says there may be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-390-5555.
