After snowfall along the I-25 corridor Sunday be on the lookout for slick road conditions tonight and during your Monday morning commute. Some areas picked up several inches of snow through the day and, while additional snowfall is not expected to continue, snow packed and wet roadways will freeze overnight as temperatures drop into the teens. Lying about receiving a military medal could become a crime, under a bill headed to the president's desk.
The latest incarnation of the Stolen Valor Act is narrower than the one struck down by the Supreme Court last year. The earlier version made it a crime to lie about military medals, something the Supreme Court said was protected under the First Amendment, despicable as it may be.
This version of the bill makes it a crime if the intent behind the lie is to profit personally or financially. It cleared both the House and Senate this week.
If it becomes law, violators could face up to a year in prison.
