A man is on the run after robbing a local hardware store at gunpoint. It happened at the Home Depot store on Academy and Woodmen in Colorado Springs.
Investigators told 11 News they were called to the Home Depot after a man walked in with a handgun, then took off with an entire cash register drawer.
Police say the man waited in line at a cash register, and then asked the cashier to scan a lantern to confirm it was purchased at the store. While the cashier was operating the register, the man reportedly pulled out the gun and told the cashier to put the money till into a duffel bag, which he had in a cart.
Investigators aren’t sure if he took off on foot or in a car from the parking lot. It's also unknown which direction he may have gone.
The suspect is described at a white man in his late 30s or early 40s, between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7 with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark gray, short top hat, a knee-length gray jacket, black pants and a black shirt. He also has a stubble facial hair.
At this time, it’s unclear how many people were inside the store when the robbery happened. No one was hurt.
