The city of Colorado Springs is trying to figure out what to do about recreational marijuana and the Springs airport.
While it's illegal to sell marijuana in the city, you can still smoke it privately and have marijuana in your possession in Colorado.
Out of state it remains illegal.
Here's a statement from the city provided to 11 News by John McGinley, Assistant Aviation Director at the airport.
“To discourage interstate drug trafficking and to comply with multiple Federal stakeholder requirements, Mayor Bach and Police Chief Carey are evaluating their options for disallowing the possession of marijuana at the COS Airport and other City facilities. This is a complex issue and the City of Colorado Springs is working to determine what a prohibition would encompass from a legal and law enforcement standpoint and the best method to implement such a restriction. No further information is available at this time, but will be released when it becomes available. “
