A town in Denver's western suburbs ordered evacuations Tuesday after an ice dam broke in Clear Creek. But the city of Golden appeared to avoid flooding.

Golden has lifted the evacuation order issued for Clear Creek RV park and the Canyon Side Condos.

The ice dam was caused by a cold snap over the last few days in Colorado. Parts of Clear Creek froze so quickly that there were few places for flowing water to go. The ice dam broke near Idaho Springs earlier Tuesday.

The city warned a 4-foot wall of icy water could hit the city. But the surge of water ended up bypassing Golden.

The National Weather Service issued a stream flood advisory for Golden until 8 a.m. Wednesday.
