Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and other state and city officials toured parts of Southern Colorado Monday, taking a look at the damage from this summer's flash flooding.
The tour covered areas hit hardest by the flooding, including North Cheyenne Canyon Road in Colorado Springs and parts of Manitou Springs.
The governor spoke with residents, still repairing and fixing their houses. It was his first visit to the Springs since the flooding and second trip to Manitou Springs.
Hickenlooper and other officials stressed smart flood prevention, including the use of different structural and mitigation efforts to try to prevent homes from getting destroyed again by flooding.
They also stressed people to get flood insurance.
