After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. The main impact will be the cold along with winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
The Colorado Army National Guard is breaking ground Friday on a new readiness center in Alamosa.
The 27,150-square-foot facility will be the new home of about 80 part-time and four full-time Colorado Army National Guard soldiers from Company D, 1st Battalion, 157th Infantry. It will have two classrooms plus an assembly hall.
The Adjutant General of Colorado Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards says a permanent readiness center will enable guardsmen to respond quickly to emergencies in southern Colorado. Currently, the closest permanent readiness center to Alamosa is about 120 miles away in Pueblo.
The building is scheduled to be completed in September 2013, with construction costs of around $8 million.
