Because old car seats are considered unsafe to resell or reuse, a free recycling program will be offered on Saturday, September 24.
The program is a partnership between Memorial Health System, Kohl’s and Bestway Disposal. Parents can bring their old car seats to the Healthy Baby Fair at The Citadel Mall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The seats will be dismantled and properly recycled for free. About 95 percent of the seat is recyclable.
The Healthy Baby Fair will be held outside of Burlington Coat Factory.
Parents who cannot drop off car seats at that time can take their used car seats to the Kohl’s department store during normal business hours. Just take it to the customer service desk.
In addition to the recycling, Burlington Coat Factory is sponsoring an event called Project Checkpoint in association with Evenflo. The project will provide information and education to parents on the proper installation of child car seats.
