A Wyoming-bound coal train derailed Saturday morning near Sterling, Colo.
No one was hurt, but the derailment did spark several small grassfires. All were put out quickly. There was no damage to property other than the signals at the intersection and the train itself.
It's unclear what caused the train to derail. The train--which consists dozen cars and is about 3/4 mile long--typically carries petroleum products, propane and diesel among other things, but was empty Saturday.
The derailment occurred at 8:40 a.m. and closed Highway 138 at Logan County Road 43.
