A celebration is taking place to mark the City Auditorium's 90 years in Colorado Springs.
The festivities took place Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the auditorium's 221 E. Kiowa St. location. That's at the corner of Kiowa and Weber.
Festivities included musical performances, a theater workshop, a kid's art fest, a rock climbing wall, silent auction and much more.
The City Auditorium was built from 1922 to 1923. The original cost of construction was about $424,000. In 1995, the City Auditorium was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Decades later, it's still in use, hosting everything from concerts to graduations to sporting events.
In 2004, the nonprofit group Friends of the Historic City Auditorium was founded to raise support for the ongoing use and maintenance of the building.
