The man accused of using the internet to pimp a teenager in the Colorado Springs area told police he completed transactions with three different men. He also reportedly told police he had sex with the 16-year-old.
11 News spoke with the teen girl's mother involved in this case. She says her daughter was forced into the prostitution. She alleges that Trevor Baker was soliciting her daughter as an escort on Backpage.com. The mother also wrote in a restraining order request that Baker drove her daughter “to motels and collected money for her having sexual relations with men.”
According to court documents, the victim’s mother told police her daughter was staying with Trevor Baker at the Travel Lodge Motel located at 2625 Ore Mill Road. Police went there on May 11and found the pair sitting in a sedan in the parking lot.
The affidavit says Baker waived his Miranda Rights and told the officer he was introduced to the girl about a month before at the Underground Nightclub. They spent time together that night, and Baker says the girl became his “best friend” over the subsequent days.
Baker told police he brought up the idea of prostitution as a way to make money one week before he was arrested. The court document says he told police the girl wanted to pursue it, and they agreed to evenly split the money they earned.
To advertize their venture, Baker told police he and the girl worked together to write an ad at Backpage.com. It is an online classified ad service, similar to Craigslist. Unlike Craigslist, however, Backpage lists escorts, body rubs, adult jobs and other related categories.
They used a prepaid credit card to pay for the ad, and bought a prepaid cell phone for the clients to call. Baker told police the ad had a headline that was something like “A Hot 19-Year-Old Blonde.”
He also told the officers that it included phrases like, “come soothe your long and hard day after work.”
According to the court documents, Baker told police the ad led to a total of three transactions with three different men for a total of $450. The transactions occurred in rooms at two different hotels that Baker reserved.
After the first transaction, Baker reportedly said, the girl appeared to be happy and excited to make money.
Baker told police that he took the girl to her father’s house after each transaction so she could get ready for school the next morning.
Additionally, the affidavit says a second girl decided she wanted to join the deal. The woman, a 19-year-old, reached the same agreement to split the revenue.
When Baker was arrested, he was sitting with the teenager outside the motel and smoking marijuana while they waited for the customer who had arranged to purchase sex from the 19-year-old.
The victim’s mother told 11 News that Trevor Baker is a manipulative person, and has a message for parents. She encourages them to talk with their daughters often, and ask about any older adults that might be in their lives.
11 News asked police if there were more victims in this case. They couldn't comment, saying the case is still under investigation.
